"A Word from the Word" (fromtheword.org) is a daily blog all about growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We are a community that is journeying together through the entire Bible chronologically in three years. Each day's post will include the reading for today, a key verse from the reading, and some actions to help you be refreshed by the Word of God.

 To grow spiritually, every believer needs TWO THINGS:

1. The Word of God (Bible)
2. A Word from God (Holy Spirit)

The difference may seem subtle, but the reality is that we all need the Lord to personalize His message to us with a voice that speaks directly into an area of our spiritual life.

What you will find on fromtheword.org is a compilation of daily Bible readings presented in chronological* order.  Each post contains a section of Scripture for you to read along with a "key verse" taken from that day's reading, followed by a brief comment or exhortation regarding God's word.  Our prayer is that this will emphasize a personal word from God for you.

This is a bit of a slower paced daily devotional.  Your journey through the Bible will take three years (two years in the Old Testament and one year in the New Testament).

Before reading each day, take a moment to pray that the Lord would speak to you directly and bless His word to your heart.

*CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER: 

• In the OLD TESTAMENT, readings are presented in EVENT-CHRONOLOGY, meaning in the historical order the events happened.
• In the NEW TESTAMENT, readings are presented in AUTHORSHIP-CHRONOLOGY, meaning in the order the writings are believed to have been written by the author.

About Pastor John...

John Miller (aka "Johnny") is a retired Calvary Chapel pastor and Bible teacher.  He served as an Associate and Teaching Pastor at New Life Community Church in Pismo Beach, California for 9 years and then served as the Lead Pastor at Calvary Chapel Kona Coast in Kailua Kona for 5 years.

Pastor John holds a degree in Christian Education from Southwest Bible College and Seminary and currently resides in Newport Beach, California,
